martinMARTIN:: Pure Hell was one of the first, if not the first, African American (Proto) Punk Rock bands. Pure Hell formed in Philadelphia in 1974. The band’s first big break came when they toured Europe with the Sex Pistols. They spent time playing in New York city, eventually becoming friendly with and gigging with The New York Dolls. They played with Sid Vicious of The Sex Pistols in 1978 when he moved to New York City. Interesting to note:: Pure Hell’s drummer, Michael “Spider” Sanders was our design assistant with my first fashion label, valluccio, with my then partner, Janice Braveman. martinMARTIN:: Every once in a while, the world is graced with an exceptionally special and talented person, Tina Turner was one of those people. It is with heartfelt condolence that we announce the passing of “The Queen Of Rock N’ Roll.” Her family reports that after a long illness, she was called home peacefully in her home in Switzerland on Wednesday 24 May 2023 at the age of 83.
