martinMARTIN:: We are pleased to announce, our friend Photographer Just Loomis’, upcoming show. See below for details:: The HELMUT NEWTON FOUNDATION cordially invites you to the big opening of “HELMUT NEWTON / SUMO / JUST LOOMIS. MARK ARBEIT. GEORGE HOLZ THREE BOYS FROM PASADENA / PHOTO COLLECTION OF HELMUT AND JUNE” on Thursday 6 June 2019 @ 8:00pm:: Location:: HELMUT NEWTON FOUNDATION, Berlin, Germany:: The photographers Just Loomis, Mark Arbeit and George Holz as well as the filmmaker Julian Benedikt, whose film “SUMO” will be shown in the video room, will be present. Newton’s SUMO exhibit is complemented by an expanded reprise of the “Three Boys From Pasadena” standout show. Ten years ago, the works of three of Newtons’s former assistants–Just Loomis, Mark Arbeit and George Holz–were featured all together in one of the foundation’s exhibition galleries. For this showing, each of the American photographers will have a dedicated space for his unique and multifaceted oeuvre. Mark Arbeit will show a new series of life-sized photographs of female models along with a series of small-format photographs of toy dolls–a visual homage to Helmut Newton and his passion for collecting. Joining the black and white nudes by George Holz from the previous exhibition will be a host of his Hollywood portraits–including photos of Madonna, Andie MacDowell, Jack Nicholson and Steven Spielberg among others–many of which have been featured in prominent international publications. Just Loomis has selected some of his photographs from his latest book “BACKSTAGE” to complement his “Americana” series from the exhibition in 2009. With “BACKSTAGE.” Loomis gives us an intimate flip side-view of the world’s greatest runway fashion shows from Los Angeles, New York, London, Milan and Paris from the perspective of the backstage. Loomis shares with the viewer the concentration of frenzy and intense emotional energy of the models behind the catwalk.
