Irene Silvagni, the former longtime creative director of Yohji Yamamoto and fashion editor of Vogue Paris, died Thursday 24 March after a long illness. Silvagni was born and raised in Paris and began her fashion career at Elle Magazine, before moving into the Vogue universe. First, as European editor for the U.S. edition of Vogue and later as the fashion editor of Vogue Paris. Diane and I had the privilege of knowing Irene, having been introduced to her by our mutual friend Limi Yamamoto, daughter of Yohji Yamamoto.
